Haldir frowned. He had hoped against hope that she would put aside their earlier argument in favor of the more pressing matter. That could be resolved later.

He spent a moment registering her words, and then nodded, ushering her along. There was an effort to be gentle, and yet accommodating Tauriel’s need for haste. Whether they paused here or there was of no importance.

He waited for her to go first up the hidden stairs, the supplies still ready in his hands.

“You have lost enough blood already. Hurry, we must secure the tip.”

Her hand fell with the subtle loss of energy, directing Haldir towards the stairway she seemed fine. The loss of blood however drew her vision to smudges and her steps to staggers few and far between as she began the ascend with rapid haste.

She carelessly mistook a step or perhaps she slipped, or her knee gave way, her hand rushed out to clutch to the nearest object, Haldir’s tunic as she stumbled. The sudden jerk only aided in increasing her heart-pace and blood flow, something she very much wanted to keep at a minimum. Finding the pain overwhelming, she didn’t pick herself up and instead vouched to slump against the tree bark and stairway.

“This will do,” Slowly she blinks, suddenly exhausted. “This is best, cover and only one way up and many ways down for us.” She gestured to the dense foliage around them that her garb so flawlessly blended against and the bottom of the stairway that gave them clear visual of the forest floor. “This will do.” She tugged at her armory lacing, unraveling it.
